O Brother Where Art Thou?

[ Eric walked his way over to the area where a meeting was going to be taken place. Something urgent. They got him out of his room an everything, so it must be serious if they were using him.

His eyes drifted over the warehouse that had been his home for a long time. Ever since they moved after an incident, this has been their headquarters. He blinked, trying to remember what the incident was...ah...his brother escaped, wasn't it? Izumo had ran away and left Eric here with the consequences of his actions.

He tilts his head. When did his brother leave here? Leave him? A few years now wasn't it? He vaguely wondered if he was still alive, or was he enjoying his freedom after abandoning his brother. He frowned, trying forget about those thoughts as he felt anger. Now wasn't the time. The leader was talking about a thorn in their side, and how they might snuff it out.

Ah, Homra again?

The name kept popping up here and there, they were becoming a bit more of a problem with each passing day. Their borders clashing even more as their territory expands.

The leader barked at him, telling him to get ready. Eric could only nod, wandering over to retrieve his knife. Looks like things were finally moving forward. He had a job to do, there was nothing else that mattered, right?

A vague image of his brother flashed in his mind and he smiled, vicious and full of teeth. Yeah, nothing else mattered, anymore. ]

[ He closes his eyes, bringing his mind back to the times they were together, where Izumo would hold him like this when things got scary. He would make all the bad go away. Then he left, and made even more bad come to him. ]

I thought...thought you were dead. You're here...you're here.

[He tightens his arms around here.]

I'm here, Eric. I'm not leaving you again.

[ Leaving...he left him. He promised to never leave Eric and he left him before.

Eric glares, slowly removing himself from the hug, his arms slipping off of his brother. ]

And why the hell, should I believe you, now?

[A sharp glance over his shoulder has Mikoto stop moving from his place, the redhead's eyes narrowed at Eric.

Izumo looks back at his brother, pulling back.]

Because I never intended to leave you in the first place. Nothing I say will make it up to you, so you're free to hate me, if you'd like. I wouldn't leave you of my own will, Eric.

[ He felt the indifference sink into him. Somehow, he didn't care, two wars were going on inside of him and he was hurt, hurt so much by his brother leaving him, that all it came down to was nothing.

He stood up, glancing away from Izumo as he studied the place. ]

Whatever...where am I? What happened to the others?

Homra bar.

The others are dead or in prison.

[His own tone is indifferent, though he feels Totsuka come over to them, smiling brightly at Eric in greeting.

"Ah, it's so nice to meet Kusanagi-san's younger brother! I'm Totsuka Tatara and that's Suoh Mikoto over there!" Totsuka either doesn't seem to notice the tension or doesn't care. Knowing him, Izumo thinks it's the latter. Totsuka sends Izumo a reassuring smile before he turns to Eric. "You're probably mad at Kusanagi-san right now, but do you mind if we take care of your injuries first?"]

[ Eric glares at Izumo. ]

So not only did you decide to abandon me, you also decided to get rid of the only home I've ever had?

[ Calling it a home was a stretch but really, it was all he had eve known, besides vague memories of happier times there was nothing else.

His glare goes from Izumo to this new guy, Totsuka? Did it even really matter? He took a step back. ]

Don't touch me.

If you can ever call that place a home. Can you even remember the life you've had before?

[Totsuka doesn't look hurt, simply giving Eric a comforting smile while Izumo watches Eric closely.

"That's fine then. But don't be hard on Kusanagi-san, okay?"

Izumo sighs.]

Totsuka.

[Totsuka grins at him. "You're not that great at expressing your feelings, you know! Don't worry, I'll make sure King doesn't do anything!"

Izumo shakes his head, giving Eric a look.]

Don't go around accusing me when you don't know anything either, you know.

[ He scoffs. ]

Barely. I remember more years of being in that warehouse than anything else before.

[ He ignores the other man, because right now, Izumo was his concern. ]

I know you left. I know I woke up one day and you weren't there. I know that what I had gone through after you were gone more than made up for those times you tried to protect me. What should I be instead of accusatory? Happy? Ecstatic?

Angry. Mad. Actually, I'm waiting for you to attack me.

[At least he's blunt.]

Not once have I lied to you Eric. Not then, not now. But you're free to leave if you want — I won't stop you.

["Kusanagi-San!"

Izumo ignores Totsuka and something flickers in his eyes as he regards Eric.] I wonder what they told you when I didn't come back from that mission. That I left you? That I thought you were a burden? We both know that I rather die than to leave you with them.

[Not good. His control is slipping. Izumo takes another step back and lights a cigarette to calm his nerves.]

Haven't ruled that out yet.

[ In truth, he does. He wants to hit him and put a knife to his throat but he wasn't stupid. He was in an unknown territory with people who had defeated his gang. One wrong move and he would get slammed. Best to wait, even if a bit more.

And to leave...what did he know about the world? Nothing. He would have to group up with another before trying to live on his own. he didn't know how. ]

You began to fight them, they got pissed, slapped you around. You ran, never looking back.

[ He makes it short, staring at his brother, trying to read his reaction. ]

Then go ahead. They won't stop you.

[Even if Mikoto is already looking like he wants to strangle Eric.

There's a blink.

Then amusement.

And a cruel twisted grin.]

They decided to kill me. Thought I was too compromised because of my attachment to you. They realized I wasn't killing as I should, leaving my marks half-alive, so they thought it was better to get rid of me. They tried, left me for dead, and I suppose told you that I left you so that you'd get angry and want to kill me yourself.

[ Eric pauses, his brother...they almost killed him and left him for dead? He hadn't just run away and left him behind he had no choice to...

'Your brother was weak.'

'You're so much stronger, so much better than your brother.'

'Your brother left you, but don't worry, we'll never leave you.'

There were too many battles going in his head and his heart but he returned the smirk nonetheless, feeling numbness as he spoke. ]

You stopped obeying, and thought you could get away with it? No wonder...you were such a failure.

[Something snaps at that and Mikoto moves, holding Izumo back as he nearly lunges at Eric.

The twisted grin turns crueler.]

Me? A failure? I'd rather die as one than to die as their dog.

[Its a painful word and he knows it but he doesn't care.

He's aiming for Eric to attack him. To kill him.]

[ Eric doesn't even blink as Izumo lunges at him. He even chuckles lightly. ]

I was a great dog. Won all the tournaments. Best in Show. They were quite proud of me.

[ He takes out his knife, thinking it was foolish that they kept it on him. He played with it. ]

Better to die as a dog...than to live a hollow life, right?

[ He flicks the knife upwards but does not place it near Izumo. Instead, it lies on Eric's neck, a small amout of pressure applied to it, enough to break some skin, a thin trail of blood falling rom a cut. He only smiled. ]

What do you think?

Prized dogs are worth something. Are you?

[Izumo eyes the knife before he chuckles.]

Sure. If only because you're a coward. Go ahead and die as a dog then. At least I get to keep the memories of my brother dying with a smile on his face.

[A dangerous glint appears in his eyes.]

Or would you rather I kill you myself? It'll be swift and you can join our parents that way.

More than you'll ever be.

[ It was all he had, and Izumo took it away from him. ]

If I was a coward like you I'd be dead already. I'm sure you had quite a life out here, you probably forgot all about me. And who would remember those faceless idiots?

[ He stares down at Izumo, not the least bit scared. ]

What, you left your marks half alive and yet you can kill me? That's a laugh.

Your definition of a coward is misconstrued. You're the coward here, Eric. You always have been. Willing to follow orders, willing to be someone's dog, and now you're willing to kill yourself just because you can't handle the idea of being free?

[His eyes narrow.]

No wonder they made you my replacement.

[Izumo suddenly looks amused and he laughs. He takes out his own knife, twisting it in his hand and before he can allow himself to think, he stabs himself in the side.]

If I kill you, I kill myself, right? It'd be too easy because neither of us are innocent — never have been.

I had NOTHING! I knew nothing, I was and still am nothing. What was I suppose to do after you left? Die? It was either that or live and I chose to live because then maybe I would have had something! Something else that wasn't my brother who I thought left me because I was weak! So I lived and tried to get strong. So that maybe...maybe...

[ He could see you again.

He stops short as Izumo stabs himself and his eyes widen in surprise. He finally starts to drop the knife from his own neck. ]

Why the hell would you kill yourself after me? What kind of coward move is that?

Strong enough to see me again and threaten to kill yourself?

[Good, Eric dropped the knife.]

What kind of brother would live on happily after killing his own blood?

[Suddenly, Mikoto appears beside them and punches them both on the head — hard.

"Enough of this." The redhead shot them both annoyed looks before he turns his gaze to Eric. "Stop complaining and try to get to know your brother again. And you—" He glares at Izumo. "Stop trying to get him to attack you."

Izumo blinks once, looking sheepish as Totsuka comes over to them, hastily telling Izumo they're taking him to the hospital because what kind of idiot would stab himself??]

Like you know me.

[ The punch has Eric shrinking back, unsure of the attack but bracing for more if neccessary.

Stop complaong and know your brother...easier said then done, but he kept his mouth shut. At the notion of bringing Izumo to the hospital he glances at the wound...thay defintely needed to be looked at. He scoffed. ]

You always were a reckless idiot.

It seems to run in the family.

[His tone is jovial even as he's practically manhandled out of the bar. And by manhandled, Mikoto has decided to pick him up and drape him over his shoulder, mindful of the knife wound.

Totsuka looks amused, smiling at Eric and gesturing for him to come long. They might as well make sure both brothers are okay.]

Guess so...

[ He tilts his head as he sees his brother getting lifted up and follows along at Totsuka's prodding. Though he was not happy about it. Doctors, were not fun. ]

[Eric, enjoy the sight.

Apparently Izumo gets manhandled a lot in Homra.

But as they get into the van, they're greeted by another redhead who introduces himself as Fujishima. He looks a bit put off when he sees the knife in Izumo's side, but Totsuka gently veers Eric to sit in the front seat with Fujishima while he and Mikoto makes sure Izumo doesn't bleed out as he's brought to the back.]

[ He will.

Eric just nods his head to Fujishima, not in a social mood, though when is he ever. He kept looking back to his brother, trying to digest everything that's happen in just the past few hours. His brother was here, he's lost his gang and he was driving to a hospital to get himself and his brother checked out. Going there still didn't sit well with him and he curled up a bit smaller in the car.

This was a really...interesting day. ]
